Vinyl, CD or MP3?
![[[ Which do you prefer? ]]](http://hooverdust.com/version2/wp-content/images//music_collection.jpg)
Today I bought the new Vines album Winning Days (to be reviewed soon) and immediately ripped and encoded the tracks to mp3 to put into iTunes. Unfortunately there doesn’ t seem to be a resource to purchase mp3′ s online yet in Australia. Telstra offer Windows Media Audio (WMA) files at AU$1.89 a pop but I want to be able to play the files in iTunes. The US and elsewhere in the world offer a great service via Apple and iTunes where buying tracks is incredibly easy and efficient. They\rquote ve even teamed up with Pepsi to offer 100 million free tracks. Now that’s an awesome incentive. Once the service becomes available here my days of buying CD’s will come to an end.

Films concentrating on club culture are often a hit and miss affair. Human Traffic is probably the best of its type since it has all the right ingredients - great music, interesting characters and best of all - a simple premise. It has no higher purpose than to entertain and doesn?t manipulate or preach to its audience. One Perfect Day on the other hand is the complete opposite. Its primary message is to continuously stress to the viewer that ‘drugs are bad’ and that there is more to the club scene than popping pills. The filmmaker’s give no credit to the intelligence of its target audience. Everything is forced to the nth degree. And this is where the film fails miserably.
Before Sunset

After the heavy topic of film violence on Hooverdust.com recently, I thought I’d change pace and throw you over to the other end of the film spectrum. Romance flicks. Yes that’s right - romance flicks! Truth be told, I’m not a big fan of the Hollywood representation of romance because most of them manipulate the audiences into believing that is how it love and romance works. I think they can actually cause more harm than good if the person being manipulated holds up these completely unrealistic expectations for a potential partner. Still, I admit I enjoy the occasional romance flick here and there given the right circumstances and company.
