Where The Wild Things Grow

[ Melbourne @ night ]

It’s near the end of semester and the assignments have once again piled up. I took an hour break last night to go into the city and take some photos to clear the head. It worked. I’d forgotton how magical Melbourne can be when the sun goes down and the lights beam out. Out of all the major cities in Australia, I still think Melbourne is the most beautiful.

I’m hoping to catch a screening of Super Size Me this Wednesday night and a Q and A with director Morgan Spurlock. If I get tickets, I’ll post a review shortly.

The Little Things

[ What personal thing makes you excited? ]

I was having a discussion with my flatmate yesterday and we started thinking that it\rquote s strange sometimes what makes people excited. I\rquote m not talking about the more common things like catching up with friends or spending time with your partner for example, but more those things that are only satisfying to you alone. And more often than not it\rquote s usually something that isn\rquote t of great concern or of interest to 99% of the rest of the population.

The Nappies

[ 'I ain't no baddy!' ]

With the world more interested in the name of the Chris and Gwyneth\rquote s baby girl, I\rquote m going to talk a little about what Coldplay have been up lately. Honestly I couldn\rquote t care less about their personal lives. So if you\rquote re expecting a rant about them, go read Woman\rquote s Day or Who magazine.

I am however a big fan of the music of Coldplay. I\rquote ve got both their albums, the live DVD, a collection of most (if not all) of their rarer, unreleased tracks and also had the opportunity to catch the band live last year at Rod Laver Arena. But lately I\rquote ve put away their music for the fear of getting sick of them. It nearly got to the point of too much of a good thing, so I took out the CDs and stored them back into the CD rack.

The band recently stated that they won\rquote t be touring during 2004 at all for that very reason. They believe people are getting tired of them and surely enough I agree. Their tracks got flogged to death on just about every radio station, particularly Clocks. Their appeal is so widespread that you would hear a track on Fox FM and PBS at the same time.

Fellow fans will be excited to hear that the band will come out from hiding in early 2005 with a new album under their belt. With a mammoth 42 songs in contention, it\rquote s bound to be interesting album with only the standout tracks making the final listing. Chris Martin has been collaborating with a few artists in the meantime including Ash, Ron Sexsmith, Echo and the Bunnymen and Jamelia. Timbaland has even expressed interest in working with the band.

Despite having an incredibly busy schedule, the band have decided to release a special video today over at their official site. It\rquote s the world debut of their new band THE NAPPIES! Forget The Darkness, The Nappies are the REAL glam rockers of the world. Don\rquote t believe me? Check out their debut track and film clip for the new band right here. But be quick because it\rquote s only available for one week!
