Birthday Shenanigans

[ If you zoom in, you can actually see Chargey's drool! ]

Shenanigans. Such a totally underrated word. More birthday eating, drinking and hanging out with friends on Friday night. Started off with some quality Thai food and then some extensive bar hopping which moved from the city laneways through to St Kilda and then back to the ‘Hooverpad’ for some additional drinking. An unpredictable, unexpected good night in the end. The above picture of Chargey lusting after Scarlett Johansson was taken around 1am in St Kilda while this one was taken moments before in the city, which was an attempt at another ‘jumping’ photo. Something tells me I need a better camera. Any suggestions?

Saw The Aviator today and I can’t understand why The Age’s Adrian Martin only gave it one star. Seems a little harsh for a film that although not great, is technically well-made, acted and entertaining. Sure Scorsese failed to focus on some of the more notorious aspects of Hughes life (i.e his links with organised crime) but the plane crash sequence is pure Scorsese. Not his best picture by any means but much better than Gangs of New York. Maybe Martin just has a serious bug up his arse. Cate Blanchett is fucking fantastic, sure to take home the best supporting actress Oscar later this month. She nails Katharine Hepburn (and we all know the best cinematic talent comes from Melbourne! :D ). DiCaprio also puts in a very good performance, probably one of his best in a while (hence the Oscar nomination). I’ve yet to see Sideways (will later on today) but I will put $1000 on The Aviator to take home the Best Picture Oscar. Personally, I’d like to see Million Dollar Baby take home the gong but the topical subject matter tackled in the last-third of the movie will hamper its chances considerably.

The St Kilda festival is later on today. Might be going, might not be. Generally it’s an excuse to drink a shit load (and hey, when have I ever knocked back an invite?) but Friday night was a large one. However, the weather is supposed to perfect and since I could second as a beacon right now, it would be good to get some quality rays. If you see someone taking pictures of some really bizarre shit, then come over and say “hi”. I won’t bite unless you really want me too.

Finally, this is post number 100! Not even a year old and already up to 100 posts. I’ll try and get the new site up and running by the one year anniversary but I can’t promise it.

James. I took some jumping photos on Saturday. The link is: http://www.skateboard.com.au/forum/read.asp?forum=10&id=590391&thread=22810 if that doesn’t come up as an HTML ref then copy and paste it. You need a camera like mine. I need to learn to use it at night properly. And I believe that’s Em’s second hooverdust appearance! Wahoo.

Nice shots there bro. I wouldn’t mind upgrading my camera to something just a little bigger so I can still carry it around in my pocket. I think I’m going Canon next. Hrmmm.
