Geek Speak Radio

Over the past few weeks while programming the new site and ipodding on the train, I’ve been listening to a few podcasts, trying to establish ones that cover my interests - film, music, pop culture and geekery. The problem with most is that they end up being unstructured which leads to the podcasters losing track on their subject matter. I’ve yet to find a really good film review/discussion podcast although I’m downloading one right now.
But I have discovered a well-presented podcast from a couple of self-confessed geeks in the US called Geek Speak Radio. These guys usually have an agenda to follow and generally stick to it. They dip into all sorts of gadgets and geekery including DVD technologies (Blue-Ray Vs HD-DVD), Tivo, iPods, PSPs, Xbox 360’s, etc… They also know their stuff and when they don’t, they bring in friends and guests to go into heavier specifics. But it never gets overly technical (except maybe when they brought in a friend who went to the hackers conference (DEFCON) in Vas Legas. And I believe they do their podcast using a couple of headsets and a freeware piece of audio software (headsets would make it easier to keep the levels the same especially if moving around right?).
So if you are a geek then it’s well worth a listen. I’ve still got plans to do at least one movie podcast at some stage just to tick off another piece of “to do” things on the new site. Maybe a Melbourne movie/pop culutre blogger podcast could be organised? Rod? Beth?

- Get iTunes. Subscribe to the podcasts this way. Much easier and convienent. You can even set it up to delete the podcasts you’ve already listened to.
- Podcast Alley. A good place to find the podcasts.
- Want to set up your own podcast? Apple have a good article on how to plan it out and make it the shizzle.

Brian is a very smelly creature! Note how I have provided just enough information to get my point across, but not enough information to incriminate myself. Evading the law of slander is a fine art. Some might argue that this is not an appropriate forum for such comments. We’ll leave it to James’ discretion.
Hey Tumale, leave the insults to the big boys Princess!
Ahahahaha you have a future in law already dude
A podcast i consistently enjoy is KCRW’s The Business. I think as a fellow movie buff you might enjoy it.
PS. I just noticed that the newsfeed for your site has changed with your redesign, so my newsreader wasn’t noticing you posting any new entries.
