Rock Chicks!

(Misere)

(Motor Vehicle Sundown)
If I have one weakness, it’s rock chicks. I fall in love them at the drop of a hat. The harder they rock, the harder I fall too. I get like that scene in High Fidelity:
Barry: I wanna date a musician.
Rob Gordon: I wanna live with a musician. She’d write songs at home and ask me what I thought of them, and maybe even include one of our little private jokes in the liner notes.
Barry: Maybe a little picture of me in the liner notes.
Dick: Just in the background somewhere.
So when I had two gorgeous rock frontwomen to shoot last night, I tried to maintain my composure. That didn’t work. I tripped over, spilt someone elses drink. Yes, no cool photographer here. But I got the shots. The first pic above is from a friends band Misere playing their first gig. I like being there for first gigs, especially ones with bands who have potential. I spoke to lead singer Katie before the gig and she was pretty nervous but owned the stage (and the crowd) and the celebrations continued into the wee hours of the morning. There was a distinct PJ Harvey flavour in the air. The last band of the night were Motor Vehicle Sundown and while I wasn’t there to take snaps of them, when frontwoman Sarah Hardiman began to rock, I put my drink down and headed over to get a couple of pics. The crowd loved them and ended the night on a big high. Check out their track Wailing Versions of Me.
