JTV

Triple J will launch their own TV show JTV on ABC this Friday night at 11:10pm and will kick off tomorrow online and at various times on ABC2. It’s great to finally see them get off the ground with this project (which I believe had been on the drawing cards for sometime). What to expect:

Imagine all the best bits you hear on triple j in pretty-moving-pictures glory! Expect to see plenty of music, comedy, interviews, Hack stories, and a fly-on-the wall look at what it’s like in the studios and offices of triple j. There’ll be stacks of great material packed into many jtv timeslots across the week.

JTV live is what I’m really looking forward to on Saturday nights just before RAGE. They’ve already filmed a number of gigs for this (just recorded the Yeah Yeah Yeahs) and they did broadcast a Wolfmother gig earlier in the year, which went down well with fans. They also have in store ‘JTV docs’ – broadcasting stories captured from young, independent Australian filmmakers. This is great news and I’m sure there’ll be plenty of quality content on display.

And don’t forget to check out the ‘Closet recordings of Alan Jones’ Triple J have now posted online. These are truely comic gold recorded when Jones was at Sydney radio station 2UE in the early 1990s. Anonymously provided to the ABC back in the late 90’s and now revived for your listening pleasure.
