3 Teasers and Grindhouse News!
A few notable teasers have surfaced over the past week from some of the best directors working in Hollywood today:
There Will Be Blood
Scheduled for a boxing day release here in Australia, Paul Thomas Anderson’s (Boogie Nights, Magnolia, Punch Drunk Love) new film There Will Be Blood is based upon the novel by Upton Sinclair (Oil!) which studios claim is “a story about family, greed, religion, and oil, entered around a turn-of-the-century Texas prospector in the early days of the business”. Daniel-Day Lewis plays that prospector and it’s a timely film given the current political climate. I’ll be there opening day.
No Country For Old Men
New Cohen Brothers film. Do I really need to say more? Well yes… it harks back to some of their earlier thriller work which is outstanding news and this one looks just as good, if not better, than anything they’ve done before. Higher res trailer here. (C’mon, Roger Deakin’s cinematography needs better viewing than shitty Myspace!). Tentatively scheduled for release in Australia in February 2008.
Wall-E
Almost a cross between E.T and Short Circuit, Wall-E will be released next year (around June) and is directed by the same guy who did my favourite Pixar film Finding Nemo, Andrew Stanton. Animation looks amazing yet again, especially in the high-res trailers. Expect Pixar not to skip on the storyline aspect either.
Also in other news, Michael Moore’s new doco Sicko has leaked on the Internet, ahead of its official US release date! I haven’t seen it yet but people have said it’s rather good and Moore restrains himself more so from being the centre of attention this time around (except one sequence at Guantanamo Bay).
Finally Tarantino’s half of the Grindhouse experience (albeit a longer cut), Death Proof has apparently been given an Australian release date - November 8th. Still no word on Rodriguez’s Planet Terror.

I seriously can’t wait for new PTA. What a trailer, I love it when it just leaves all the mystery there and doesn’t explain the whole story. And new Coen Brothers is exciting too.
Nov 9th for Death Proof…WTF? A new PTA is exciting although I do not like Punch Drunk Love at all.
the No country trailer has got me a little excited,i go as far as saying it’s given me a little woody.. it definately looks like a revisit to their best style..
Daniel Day Lewis is the man. Love his work.
November 8th! That is a fucking pile of shit. I’ve waited all year for this movie to come out. It is the only watchable movie out this year. Hollywood is bringing some absolute fucking crap these days. Hope they burn in hell.
