Beowulf

Okay well as much as I disliked 300 and it’s visual style, I’m keen on the Robert Zemeckis directed, Roger Avary and Neil Gaiman written big-screen adaptation of the ultra-violent poem Beowulf. The talent involved already has me excited and I’m keen to see how the “photorealistic” performance capture works. Part of me would have preferred a non-computer animated version but Zemeckis loves to push the filmmaking abilities and for the most part, he succeeds with every genre he attempts so I’m confident this one will be exciting. The LA Times has something to say about the project here. Fingers crossed an unrated version eventually comes out. Also be sure to see this one at an IMAX 3D cinema for the best experience.
The film features the voices and ‘performances’ of Ray Winstone, Anthony Hopkins, Robin Wright Penn, Alison Lohman, John Malkovich, Crispin Glover, Brendan Gleeson and Angelina Jolie and should be out here in Australia on November 29th.

Neil Gaiman… ’nuff said!
