Apparently, when Broken Social Scene are hot, they cannot be topped. Wednesday night’s performance was not one of them. The band weren’t in the best of moods before the show began, Feist and Amy Millan (from Stars) were nowhere to be seen since they had other solo commitments around the country and the band stopped and started a few times. When I spoke to a couple of huge fans of the band, they weren’t overly impressed with the performance. This being my first time, I didn’t know what to expect but I didn’t mind what I was hearing. Luckily the band will return sooner rather than later and we’ll get to see the full force that is Broken Social Scene. More photos here and here. And a much better Melbourne review here.

Mate, they played in Singapore as part of Mosiac Music Festival and it was fantastic! it was in a concert hall, filled with mostly young Singapoeans and (out of character) everyone was up dancing! They had some extra horns come on stage, people who were doing other gigs for the fest and it was great! I had to leave at one stage to go puke in the bin outside, but that’s another story! Very un-singapore gig and best one for the year. I don’t have too many to choose from though :-(
