Avatar News

Well it’s not long until Avatar hits screens (17th December for us Aussies) and still no teaser trailer. James Cameron has screened 25 minutes of the film at Comic-Con over the weekend and the responses seem promising. Apparently, Cameron has also announced an Avatar Day on August 21st, where he will screen 15 minutes of the film at selected 3D and IMAX cinemas and from reports a trailer will hit.

I’m unsure if us Australians will get the sneak peak but I hope to hear back from IMAX Australia shortly *Update* – IMAX Australia are currently considering screening the footage on August 21st. Check their website for updates over the next month.

You can follow all the Avatar updates on their Twitter page or the official site (where you can also hear some of James Horner’s score).

From the writer of High Fidelity and Grosse Point Blank comes another John Cusack comedy. Looking forward to this one! This is the red-band trailer that contains some NSFW language.

Triple J’s Hottest 100 of All-Time

JJJ Hottest 100 of All-Time 2009 Edition
After live tweeting pretty much the entire list, in the end there was sooooooo much 90’s love in Triple J’s Hottest 100 of All-Time 2009 edition. Could it be the best decade for influential music of generations X, Y and Z? Not a bad list overall. Two Jeff Buckley songs in the top 10 was nice to see. Would have thought ‘Joy Division – Love Will Tear Us Apart’ would have been number 2 at least. Read the Top 10 below:

  1. Nirvana – Smells Like Teen Spirit
  2. Rage Against the Machine – Killing In The Name
  3. Jeff Buckley – Hallelujah
  4. Joy Division – Love Will Tear Us Apart
  5. Radiohead – Paranoid Android
  6. Queen – Bohemian Rhapsody
  7. Jeff Buckley – Last Goodbye
  8. Red Hot Chili Peppers – Under The Bridge
  9. Foo Fighters – Everlong
  10. Led Zeppelin – Stairway to Heaven

And the rest of the list here. Glad to see four Radiohead tracks making the list too.

Biggest surprises?

No U2 (thank fuck!) and maybe one female artist? No love for Kate Bush, PJ Harvey, Bjork??? Weird that silverchair’s first breakthrough single ‘Tomorrow’ made the list and none of their other tracks. The Killers ‘Mr Brightside’ at #38? Total surprise. Overall though, no real surprises for #1.
