HBO will be back in full swing with this new series Boardwalk Empire from Terence Winter (who wrote many episodes of The Sopranos) and Martin Scorsese. Scorsese directs the pilot but many of the behind-the-scenes people from The Sopranos are involved so I’m really excited about this. Plus Steve Buscemi stars so you know it’s going to be worthwhile viewing.

Fresh off Apple’s HD trailer channel is the trailer for Sofia Coppola’s next feature Somewhere. It looks fantastic, conveys that sense of dislocation and elevated reality Coppola gives us in all her prior films and her husbands band Phoenix throw in their wonderful French poptastic sounds. Stephen Dorff looks suitably cast as the hard-living Hollywood actor who gets a surprise visit from his 11-year old daughter (Elle Fanning). I’m a huge Sofia fan so this will be a must-see.

[swfobj src="http://ironmanmovie.marvel.com/intl/ww/itrailer/IM2_itrailer_uk.swf" alt="Iron Man 2 Interactive Trailer" height="486" width="481" ]
One of the better superhero flicks of 2008 was definitely Iron Man. Out at the end of the month is the sequel and this trailer looks like great fun. Jon Favreau is back in the directors chair and of course, Robert Downey Jnr returns as Tony Stark. Personally, it was these two people which made the original such fun. Downey Jnr with his comic timing and Favreau – well Favreau is just a huge film geek so you know he doesn’t disappoint with his direction.

Although…. I have to say. I saw Kick-Ass the other day and that was hands down, the best popcorn movie-going experience I’ve had in the cinema in a LOOOOONG time. I’ll post a review soon hopefully but in the meantime – GO AND SEE IT NOW! It hasn’t debuted all that well in Australia which is a shame because it certainly lives up to its name.
