Retro Party

Retro Partyyyyyyy
70's Style
Inforrrmmmmmmmma!
It was all pre-1996 fun on Saturday night at a friends Retro Party. I ‘kinda’ went as early 90’s rap star Snow, since I completely forgot about the party and had to mock up something quick. And since I can NEVER pull off ‘cool’, I’d go for a laugh. Only one person in the whole bar figured out who the hell I was. I was standing at the bar and she goes “You wouldn’t happen to be Snow would you?” and I go shockingly “Yeah! You’re the ONLY person the whole night to pick up on that!” and we both giggle. Then she asks with this weird look on her face “Umm that isn’t your real hair though is it?” and I say jokingly “Yeah? What you don’t like it?” and she walks off, thinking I was serious. Ahhhhhhh. Couldn’t keep the smile off my face the rest of the night after that :)

Chargey’s 30th

A good mate of mine had his 30th birthday on the weekend and lots of celebrations were had. Last minute venue changes didn’t stop a big night out. So big in fact that the SLR couldn’t have possibly come with. Happy birthday mate!

Long Weekend Celebrations

Happy Birthday Mate!
Gotta love Melbourne and its long weekends. Also gotta love birthday’s where you wonder through the inner city streets finding the best bars, restaurants and entertainment without prior notice. Of course it helps having mates who work in the hospitality and restaurant industry since they know where the best food and drink is but still, not knowing where you’re going or end up is half the fun of a good birthday.

Hofbrauhaus Restaurant
Friday night was a rather large one at our local haunt the GB for a friends brief 2 week return to Melbourne from overseas but it was Saturday night when things got larger. My good mate Mike was celebrating his birthday and in usual style, it was all about the surprise. After various visits to Melbourne’s hidden waterholes, we ended up at Hofbrauhaus restaurant on Market Lane. I found it kinda funny to find one of the best German restaurants in Melbourne situated in the heart of Chinatown but each their own. Making our way into the restaurant, we luckily found an empty table for our small gathering on what looked like an extremely busy night and began chugging down the many Erdingers. The menu wasn’t too overly priced and when you see the size of the lamb shanks they have to offer, your mouth goes into drool central.

But the highlight of the night had to be the live entertainment which consisted of a live German band, folk dancing and doing the hokie pokie. We all got up after our full-bodied meals to join in on the festivities including jumping in the dance line and ending up down the middle of the street and back again. As if that didn’t blow our hairs back, there was always the musical bells routine. To witness the joy of a jolly fat German man impressing the ladies with his bell ringing, watch the video below.

After the dinner celebrations it was out to various clubs and bars in the CBD and home by 5am. Sunday was spent relaxing at a friend’s BBQ, feeling very seedy and enjoying the sunshine and music. I gotta say it was one of the best weekends I’ve had in a long time and yes I spent far too much money but sometimes you’ve gotta say “what the fuck” and enjoy yourself to the max.
