Monkey Friday
“Ahhh it’s time for Monkey News you f$#^@#…….”. I guess Karl Pilkington was right. There are far too many monkey stories and videos about at the moment. The above is a classic, featuring Monkey and Al from the ITV commercials shown in Britain, this time promoting PG Tips.
And this one is a monkey ninja. Enough said.
Honda Civic Ad

Honda have just released their new advertising campaign for the new civic. Go to the ‘Watch’ section and download the video. Impressive and well executed.
Sony Bravia Ad

I regularly check the advertisement airwaves, seeing what’s out there and trying to keep my pulse on the industry. Many filmmakers often start in commercials or video clips since they’re much easier to get off the ground and keep the money coming in. One such commercial everybody seems to love of late is the Carlton Draught ‘Big Ad’ which is an instant classic as is the Toohey’s Extra Dry ‘The Quest’ and its sequel ‘Clean Fight‘.
But the new Sony ad for the LCD Bravia TVs, featuring 250,000 rubber bouncy balls let loose down a San Francisco street and filmed in slow motion is really quite amazing. Hypnotizing. Watching it on my home CRT monitor isn’t the same as the crisp LCD at work. They’ve encoded a high definition quicktime on the site too and it’s well worth downloading the extended version of the ad. But what makes this concept better than most is that no CG was used at all. A very simple execution yet entirely memorable.
