X&Y delivers in spades! 

[ COLDPLAY - It's all about the universe ]

It’s simple yet progressive. It’s ambitious yet restrained. It’s more U2 than Radiohead. It’s got a level of Brian Eno mixed in. It’s Coldplay’s X&Y. I think what the band have managed to achieve is reaching that grey area between being fantastic pop musicians and creating a credible Indie presence. The quality of songs from beginning to end on X&Y are arguably higher than those from their previous records. Perhaps the most surprising aspect of the album is the lyrics which one might assume would include frontman Chris Martin’s relationship with Gwyneth or the birth of their daughter. Sure you could find the references here and there but not in an obvious way. It’s not all happy, sappy either.

New Coldplay Album Details Emerge

And about bloody time too! The new album titled ‘X&Y’ will be out on the 6th of June, with the new single ‘Speed of Sound’ looking set to hit airwaves on the 23rd of May. Produced by Danton Supple (Morrisey, Elbow), Ken Nelson (Badly Drawn Boy, Kings of Convienence) and the band themselves, the new album is said to sound like a ‘natural progression from Clocks’ with a little more orchestration and 70s electronic influences.
