Planet Earth

ABC just finished screening a breathtaking documentary series on Sunday nights called Planet Earth. From the makers of The Blue Planet, this BBC production narrated by David Attenborough, with a budget of roughly £40 million and shot on glorious HD, the 5-episode first half of the series will be available to buy on DVD next Thursday the 17th of August. Unfortunately it won’t be in true HD of course but it’ll still look amazing. The second half of episodes will screen later on in the year and I cannot wait. Educational and exceptionally shot (by far, some of the best cinematography I have ever seen!), this is one of those documentaries you need to see on a big ass plasma or LCD TV with HD capabilities for the full impact.
I also watched the other amazing series Life in the Undergrowth on ABC a few weeks back and with the incredible technology at documentarian fingertips, we are really treated to see things never captured previously on film. The glow worm cave in Waitomo, New Zealand for example makes you want to drop what you’re doing and visit immediately. Actually… I might just…
