Cop Out!

Yeah this post is a cop out but I ain’t apologising for it:

- Sin City’s Australian cinema release date has changed from early May to August 11th 2005. Fuck off! Something tells me a ‘certain-final-chapter-in-a-geeky-saga-of-films-that-we-all-hope-doesn’t-suck-ass’ is to blame. But the delay in the release has caused a number of anxious people to download it instead. I’m going to wait for this one on the big screen though because (a) the reviews have been really positive and (b) it needs to be seen on a huge cinema with the sound bursting your eardrums.

Exorcise Renny

With so many sequels and prequels coming out this year, the Exorcist prequel looked like the most promising. I’ve always been a huge fan of the original film and put it up there as one of the best and scariest horror films. The prequel was originally directed by Paul Schrader (writer of Taxi Driver and director of Auto Focus) and was rumoured to be in the tone of the original, focusing on story rather than gore. But when executives decided they didn’t like what they saw, they hired Renny Harlin (director of that piece of crap known as Cut Throat Island) to take over the directing reigns. They claimed they needed a director to put in some rotating heads, projectile vomit and all the rest to make it successful. So in walked Renny and out walked Schrader, along with a few cast members.
