Merry Xmas 2008!

Hope you all have a safe and wonderful xmas. Be sure to come back here on New Year’s Eve for my annual Top 5’s :)

What happens this Xmas at casa di Hoov? Well… Oscar will wrap the Christmas lights around him, run up the tree and launch a magnificent leap over the tree star in slow-motion, turning his head to my camera, tongue out and a slight wink of reassurance. Meanwhile Lyns does her best march around the house to the Little Drummer Boy wearing only her elf outfit and throwing ice cubes at me since we ate all the snow. Finally, I sit…. a lot…. with a premium beer in one hand and several remotes in the other, stroking my beard with my left foot and rubbing salt into the Turkey’s arse with my right. Fin.

Red goes faster

Teaching digital video this semester mean’s checking out what’s relatively new in the world of video. The red camera range are simply stunning and just by looking at this footage, paired with some tasty lenses, you get an economical way to shoot a major production whether it be a TV commercial, music video or film.  Yes the Red One camera itself will set you back US$17000+ but that’s pretty cheap for quality such as this.  But of course you can rent one quite easily here in Australia.

Sigur rós ‘Heima’ trailer

Sigur rós - Heima
Sean over at A-Reminder gave the heads up about this new documentary following Icelandic band Sigur rós on their 2006 summer tour of their own country. The trailer looks simply breathtaking and the doco is due for release in November in Iceland and Great Britain, with a DVD release to follow. You can check out the trailer in HD Quicktime here (137Mb but worth the d/l) or the shitty youTube version here.

Their next album tentatively titled ‘Hvarf-Heim’ should be released around the same time as the doco.
