iPhone here! 

iPhone & appleTV
and appleTV. No doubt you’ve already seen and heard about all of this from the vast amount of blog coverage today. But the iPhone is pretty damn sexy. Touchscreen, built-in new widescreen iPod, runs on OSX, web access, wifi enabled, etc… And the design is just what you’d expect from Apple - classy, intuitive and sexy.

This is also exciting from a designers point of view since mobile content design up until now has been fairly limiting. With the iPhone and Photoshop CS3 adding in features for mobile content design, things are going to be extremely exciting.

Now for the downsides:

  • Bit disappointed with only a 2MP built-in camera. A lot of phones already have 3MP+.
  • No 3G capabilities. At least not yet.
  • The US$599 price tag is pretty steep. However, considering what it can do, I guess that’s a fairly reasonable amount.

Regardless of all of this, I’m gonna wait for a while and see how it performs for the public before even considering a purchase. My experience with iPods hasn’t been fantastic (although they’ve been harddrive models) and the touchscreen has reportedly caused a bit of grief at the Apple camp.

Still no word on an Australian release I believe (although perhaps someone can enlighten me as to if and when?).
