It’s clear we’re seeing a guy who has changed as a human too, with getting married and having kids and how his taste for cinema has changed along with that growth process. This is something that inevitably happens with us film lovers is we watch a movie when we’re in our teens, love it to pieces. Then we hit our mid to late twenties and when life starts to take over, sometimes our perspectives change and so does our taste. Sure that might sound like a generalisation and it won’t apply for everyone but it appears that way for Smith.

Personally, I’ve said on the site before that I’ve always admired Smith for making films the way he wants to and he’s gotten the chance to do that. Such a small percentage of film students go onto making any kind of feature length film the way THEY want to do it and he’s done eight so he’s certainly gained my respect.
