KL: Day 05

KL Tower
KL overview
Well it’s Day 5 already and I’ve packed in so much over the past few days that I’m nearly running out of places to visit! Went up to the KL Tower, the 5th tallest in the world. You get some spectacular views of the city and beyond up on the observation deck. They also hand out these little screens and headphones when you walk in, providing you with an audio and video guide. Pretty groovy. Traveling through the city later on, it was finally time to try the infamous Roti Pisang. This is Roti with sliced banana in between and yes, it is heaven. It probably works better as a breakfast dish but I hadn’t tried it yet and an Indian food stall was near by awaiting my hungry stomach. I highly recommend you try this where ever you can find it!

KL: Day 04

Hindu Statue
The Caves
Sense of Scale
Day 4 and it’s time to see the Batu Caves! The first thing that blew me away was the scale. I mean, these caves are huuuuge! Guarding the cave entrance is an extremely large Hindu statue and to the left are the 272 steps you must climb to enter the caves themselves. It’s pretty steep going and you have to be careful after if it rains because it gets pretty slippery. Monkeys greet you as you climb the stairs, munching on coconuts and peanuts. They often fight with each other too which can be a show in itself. More photos of the Batu Cave trip here.

KL: Day 03

Petronas Twin Towers 06
Petronas Twin Towers 03
Day 3 and it was time to explore the various shopping centres and China Town! Catching the monorail over to China Town was dead easy. When you get to the hawker stalls in the hub of Chinatown, it’s pretty full on walking through. Hawkers are in your face for what seems like an eternity selling cheap clothes, DVDs, wallets, watches, etc… The skill is in the bargaining and you never choose the first price, even if an item is marked down. It also gets bloody hot in the swarm so bringing bottled water is always a good call. I might go back there again and take some more photos as my camera battery died before I got into the hub.

Later on, with the battery quickly charged, I visited the Petronas Twin Towers which were fantastic to photograph. I managed to get my shots before a rather loud and spectacular freak thunderstorm came by and trenched everyone. Sitting under the towers in a bar with a beer in hand, I watched the storm and soaked up the atmosphere.
