The Fourth

The Fourth from Michael Brodner AKA Bones

Just beautiful, mezmorising footage in HD.

Sigur Ròs @ Festival Hall

Sigur RòsAn amazing show overall. They pretty much played a little something from each of their albums and despite it being at Festering Hole (aka Festival Hall), the sound wasn’t terrible at all.  The highlight for me was definitely seeing Gobbledigook performed live.  With the crowd on their feet, clapping throughout the entire song, a brass band roamed the stage firing everyone up. To cap it all off, confetti and smoke shot out from the stage over the entire venue bringing together the uber happiness and joy EVERYONE in the venue was feeling.

By far the strangest thing at the show was security. They patted people down! At a Sigur Ròs show? VERY strange since Sigur Ròs fans aren’t the first choice to target for carrying a weapon.

Unfortunately I have no photos to show since I was there to enjoy and I also couldn’t find any on flickr yet but you can find some from the Sydney show (which had pretty much the same setlist and stage setup) over at Mulletgod’s flickr page.

Heima - Finally!

Sigur Ros - Heima DVD
Sigur Ros - Heima DVD
My weekend was quite frankly perfect. I’m not going to go into particulars since this is a pop-culture blog and not a personal diary but I can say that amongst the many, many, many, many, many, many, many highlights was finally getting around to watching the Sigur Ros documentary - Heima. After having anticipating this film for so long, I can finally say that if you love amazing Icelandic imagery and the music of Sigur Ros, you will have died and gone to heaven. It truly is spectacular in every sense of the word. And as much as I would have liked to have seen this in the cinema, my conditions were even better. But even still, taking those out of the equation, it is still one of the best visual documentaries I have ever seen. It keeps the members of the band still pretty much a mystery so don’t expect a Sigur Ros biopic. But I prefer not knowing too much about the members themselves and rather let the music do the talking. I only made in through disk one which contains the film but disk two is loaded with just over 2 and half hours of live performances. Even the DVD design itself is brilliant. A must buy.
