This is the opening scene from the new Lakai skate video, Fully Flared. Made over a four year period and directed by Spike Jonze, Ty Evans and Cory Weincheque, this intro reminds me of Spike’s earlier Girl Film’s skate video Yeah Right!. I love the execution of slow-motion, music and explosions. And just like with Yeah Right!, this film also has an awesome soundtrack including the likes of Arcade Fire (yeah!), Band of Horses, Calexico, David Bowie, The Flaming Lips, Public Enemy, and M83 (who provide the song in the intro video above, ‘Lower Your Eyelids To Die With The Sun’).

The new Spike Jonze/Bjork collaboration has just premiered on Bjork’s official site. It’s the music video to her new single ‘Triumph of the Heart’. Watch the Quicktime video on this page.

In true Spike style it features a dancing cat dressed in a suit, hand-held photography and my favourite part, Icelandic pub patrons human beatboxing and making strange noises. It reminded me a lot of his ‘Praise You’ video clip for some reason. Maybe it was the way he broke the song up with people acting completely bizzare. I.e in ‘Praise You’, the radio was turned off and Spike went into a solo dance routine (Well his alter ego Richard Coufey). Here, everybody starts beatboxing midway through the song. It’s strange yet undeniably cool.
