Pop-culture roundup for June

Apologies for those people anticipating regular, new Hooverdust posts (ha!). Been incredibly busy with client/teaching work so I haven’t had the chance to put my heart and soul into the blog of late (but did I ever?). Fincher’s Zodiac trailer

Zodiac
It’s been a long time coming, after a number of re-shoots but one of my most anticipated films of 2006 is now set for a March 2007 release and here’s the first look. In typical Fincher style, it’s dark, gritty, well shot and a serial killer is on the loose. The 70’s look is great too. I’m still not 100% convinced on the casting of Jake Gyllenhaal (he just looks out of place here).

Most Anticipated films of 2006

There’s promise for excellent cinema this year including new films from some of the best directors working today including Scorsese, Spielberg, Woody Allen, The Cohen Brothers, Sofia Coppolla, David Fincher, M. Night Shyamalan, David Lynch, Spike Lee, Darren Aronofsky, and Michael Mann just to name a few. These are what I consider to be my most anticipated films for 2006 but as always, there’s bound to be those gems that will creep out of nowhere, catch you by surprise and shake the very foundations of your cinematic soul. So get excited, grab your diaries and read on below (presented in no particular order, except the final one in the listing):
